luke2152
Need a cooler for my turbo bandit. Sourced a 19 row egay special same as everyone else uses but it is a close fit with the manifold. It has to be mounted with the outlets facing up (the best way anyway) but the forks interfere with the outlets at full lock. Looked extensively online and all cheap oil coolers seem to be exactly the same width. The only extra wide ones I can find are Earls and Setrab - which cost 4 times as much. Anyone know of an alternative for reasonable money? Quote Link to comment
Jaydee
Don't think you're going to have much luck with cheap coolers. The reason they are cheap is that they are a generic copy of popular cooler sizes (which limits size choice). You should bite the bullet and take the hit. Earls do extra wide curved coolers that that are 1.25 inches thick as apposed to standard coolers with 2 inches. Also, you should be able to mount the cooler a little higher as the fittings should clear the bottom yoke. You may even get away with the 16 row curved cooler (14.25 inches wide) as it may has more cooling area than a standard 19 row cooler (13 inches wide). http://www.earls.co.uk/earls100/earls_shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=345 Quote Link to comment
luke2152
Will the 8an connectors flow enough though? I thought 10an would be more appropriate Quote Link to comment
dupersunc
most are -8, if you want -10 it shouldn't be a problem, all the earls coolers I've seen have a large bsp female thread, and an adaptor to take it to -6,-8, or -10jic as required. Quote Link to comment
Gixer1460
I really wouldn't want to use -8AN pipe for a main cooler - especially a turbo. I've used -10AN and with a 'normal' width, 19 row on a turbo - it used to get blazing hot in summer, getting out of the Bulldog for example but once trucking was mint. I had pipes to top with 180 bend Aeroquip fittings - they were my lock stops LOL! Edited December 23, 2016 by Gixer1460 added words Quote Link to comment
baza
I've got a earls cooler on my Bandit MOT man winges every year because top yoke just touches the top fittings. Thought he would be used to it now Quote Link to comment
