Redpear Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) I'm putting a b12 motor into a slingshot frame and I'm looking at aftermarket oil coolers and am just wondering how many rows the cooler should have as a minimum Edited August 5, 2016 by Redpear Quote
alfiestorm Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 No need to change cooler just stick with the standard slingshot one as I have on my 1216 unless its for looks then an earls 19 row cooler kit will do just fine Quote
Nick Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Think 16 row is probably minimum for an aftermarket cooler on an 1157 bandit? Quote
Redpear Posted August 6, 2016 Author Posted August 6, 2016 I don't have a cooler I'm building the bike from the frame up but I'll have a look for them cheers Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Personally I wouldn't go smaller than a 19 row regular width, wide type if you prefer slightly better cooling if any performance mods in future are planned. 19 row regular worked for me on a streetbike with turbo fitted - but it did get BLOODY HOT! at lower speeds LOL! 1 Quote
jonny1bump Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) The racing bikes back in the day gained quite bit of power keeping the oil cool. Edited August 6, 2016 by jonny1bump Quote

Del Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Get one of the car 19 row oil-cooler relocation kits from China, the quality is brilliant and comes with hoses and fittings. Also very cheap http://www.Eblag.co.uk/itm/271803599297 Quote

Del Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) They do -10 as well http://www.Eblag.co.uk/itm/Universal-19-Row-Engine-Oil-Cooler-Kit-Sandwich-Plate-adapter-For-LS1-LS2-LS3-/271904567566 I have always ran -8 on stock 750's,1100 and 1200 motors with no problems at all(A few of the turbo lads, from the facebook page, are running the china ones ).Suppose If you go big bore then -10 would be better. My last was a goodridge cooler and -8 hoses/fittings on my 11k,ran fine and cool . My brothers 1052 with mr upperton head and other bits, ran a Hel cooler with -8 hoses and fittings, with absolutely no problems at all. We've only gone back to stock coolers/hoses because I find the stock coolers work really well with full fairings . Even now,I am using 1/2"(.062" bigger than -8) braided hose on the stock suzuki fittings(which are 1/2" o/d) and curved oil-cooler(been on there 5 yrs now with no problems at all) Edited August 9, 2016 by Del Quote
Redpear Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 Do you guys have either of those aftermarket coolers for sale? Quote
