Jelly Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I need to know what is the max width of an oilcooler which can be fitted between a Katana fairing. Can anyone measure or know this? Quote
Pedda Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 If you take the cooler dummy as a reference it is 310mm 1 Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 The cooler I have fitted is 330mm wide and it fits into the little lower faring panel exactly ( with no room to spare) if you wanted a taller cooler for an oil boiler engine in there ( shudder) you could go to 330mm width and it would still fit. 2 Quote

Gammaboy Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I dunno where my text went above, but it was saying that I used a very similar oil cooler but it sat about 3 or 4mm further forward and I had to trim the very ends of the cooler a little where the side panels wrap around. 1 Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Yeah mine is tight. It just fitted and literally no more. As a precaution I lined the inside of the side panel and the ends of the cooler with a thin sticky back high density foam. Just to avoid any platic to metal vibration. Quote
Ash Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I have a 1200 Bandit cooler on one of my Kats which fits nicely between the fairing lowers 1 Quote
Jelly Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Looks good @Ash. What hose connectors are you using on that cooler? I've fitted a B12 one as well now, but still using the stock oil lines which are actually a bit too short. Quote
Swampy Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Hi guys im new here and i have an earls cooler fitted to my 1260 kat and it appears to be deeper than oem and is very efficiant and looks pretty trick to boot. Quote
Jelly Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Hi @Swampy, Earls coolers are indeed a bit deeper, but fit nicely. Here's a picture of the B12 coolers i've fitted now. Still need to figure out some lower support for it though. Quote
Swampy Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 nice tight fit you just got to fabricate some lower mounts looking at the pic. Quote
