Narrow Speedo drive

Recommended Posts

On my GSX1100EZ fork change, I would like to keep the standard clocks so i will have to machine the GSXR K3 wheels to fit a drive. Can anyone suggest  the narrowest

speedo drive as a start. A ZXR750 has a 25mm bore which is correct & would probably work out ok for the accuracy but its too wide. T595 might be an option but its hard to figure out the

size just looking on that site. Help please

This is what I did on my Kat with Zrx1200 forks and Cbr 600 wheel (no speedo drive)

Speedo drive from I think a zrx , removed the drive dog plate and machined the housing down on both faces to suit my gap.

machined a new drive dog to fit. needed to fit an oil seal to.

machined the wheel to accept the drive.

All fitted and working just fine.

Sorry, forgot to measure the Mito one last night, will sort it tonight.

Went looking for photos - the Aprilia RS125 one looks good and narrow (2001 RS125 apparently):

You will need the same ratio to keep the reading correct though?

I am hoping that using a part from something that has a 17 inch front wheel will be close enough. I am lead to believe that most Japanese mechanical speedos use the same ratio at the speedo head & the ratio is modified at the wheel. Fingers crossed.
