Neveragain55 Posted November 21 Posted November 21 (edited) H Gang, So, I took everyone's advice about doing the GS550 / GS650E "marriage", and I'm in the process of sourcing all the parts. It looks like Suzuki doesn't sell the engine gasket sets for the year & model I need anymore, they have discontinued all this stuff. (1982 Suzuki GS650E, cylinder barrel lower gasket, head gasket, valve cover gasket) They don't sell the engine gasket sets for the GS550 either. I looked in all the usual places where one would find either OEM, or NOS parts, and all I'm finding are gasket sets made by either EMGO, or NICHE. So, on to the question....have any of you had any experiences with gaskets sets from either one of these manufacturers, do you know much about them, or how reliable they are. Are they pretty much on par with OEM parts, or are they garbage? Does this stuff come from "you know where" or are they made in countries that have a reputation for building quality items. I only ask because this is the one area where I never skimp, I always prefer to use engine internals & gasket sets from the manufacturer on anything I'm building. As usual, any & all comments are welcome, thanks in advance.... Here's what I've found so far: Edited November 24 by Neveragain55 Quote
Gixer1460 Posted November 21 Posted November 21 For that era, unless you are incredibly lucky and find someone who has a set squirreled away - VERY unlikely - you'll have to use aftermarket and whatever quality it will be! Lucky it's not a performance built so a little slack here & there is ok! 1 Quote
TLRS Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Shirley there are japanese brands that make reproduction sets. Assuming that most stuff from japan is quality stuff. 1 Quote
Builtwithpurehate Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I have always had decent luck with Versah full kits but and then I use Cometic headgaskets and source vitron valve seals Quote
Reinhoud Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Don't buy those cheap sets!! Some gaskets may be alright, but some gaskets will most likely leak. Cometic sells good quality gaskets. There's a company, USA I think, that sells a reasonable quality gasket, all seperate. they're blue, don't know the name.. They're reasonably priced too Quote
Poldark Posted November 23 Posted November 23 CRUZINIMAGE.NET | Specialty store of motorcycle parts They are in Japan. Good prices and fast international shipping. 1 Quote

I don't know if you ever try it? If only an AIR cooled engine had a LIQUID cooling system . . . . . it might work ! ! ! I think you need to do a LOT more learning! Quote
gs7_11 Posted November 26 Posted November 26 He's some sort of bot. Have a look at his other posts. Quote
Stanman Posted December 9 Posted December 9 This is all handy info as I'm about to rebuild an old gs engine once I identify it. Can someone link me to the previous discussion about the 650 head please? Quote
