gearhead141 Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I found this on OfferUp near me, and I took up the challenge to figure out what it is. The best I can come up with is that it is a 1980-81 GS750E. I say that because of the frame, the steering stem having the adapter for the choke cable, and the characteristics of the engine. The thing that confuses me is the item on the bottom rear of the fork leg. I assume that it is some kind of anti-dive gizmo, but those weren't available in '80-81. Of course, I haven't gone and looked at it in person. The seller claims it is an import model, so maybe that has something to do with it. You will also notice a 4-into-1 exhaust lying beside the bike. I've looked on CMSNL and have had no luck finding that doohickey on the fork leg. I know there are some of you out there who can help me figure this out. I told the seller to check the steering stem for a VIN but he didn't get back to me. Quote
gearhead141 Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 I think I figured it out. After much searching and bleary-eyed staring at fork tubes, there is success! This bike is a 1980 GSX750e. That device on the rear of the fork tube is the anti nose dive fork (ANDF). It was not on US spec bikes. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted November 2 Posted November 2 have you bought it yet? It's almost finished. All it needs is exhaust wrap and a brown seat. 2 Quote

Me neither Tony, looks bloody awful!! It's a good call to assume that it may have been a JDM version as the Japanese are well known for their liking of little tech gimmicks weather they actually work or not!! In this case i suspect the latter. 1 Quote
gearhead141 Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 No, I haven't bought it. Yes, it does seem ripe for a brown seat and header wrap. That would be the type of person to pick this up. It is located in the San Diego area and found on OfferUp if any of you are interested. The seller is letting it go for ridiculously cheap. If he only has what is in the photos, then the price is reasonable. He does claim to have the carbs. The header and muffler laying alongside the bike could possibly be a Yosh unit, but hard to tell as it just looks like a black lump. I was curious about this bike because I like old Zooks. This being a JDM model makes me wonder if there is anything different in the engine from the US model. It would be great if the seller had all the pieces and parts to make it original once again. However, I can see that the frame has been removed of mounting tabs and the tail cut off, which saddens me every time I see someone do this. Quote
saffa Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Had one of those as my first bike back in SA. didn't have them things on the front tubes. Just straight up leading axle tubes...no extras Quote

Definitely a yosh unit its hand bent could also be a licensed copy of it Edited November 5 by Safra Quote
