Mr S Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Just a quick one - can you remove the cylinder head off an 1100efe with the engine still in the frame? Looks like you should be able to, but figured I'd ask first... Cheers Quote
slayer61 Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I was able to remove the head off of my esd. I would expect you could do the same! 1 Quote
Duckndive Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Yes you can.....removing the coils makes life easier 1 Quote
Mr S Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 Nice one, cheers - already got the coils off so that's one less job to do! Quote
rodneya Posted August 27 Posted August 27 I like to slide a piece of cardboard inbetween the head and the studs after I lift it up so that I dont gouge the gead while fiddling to get it out Quote
Mr S Posted August 27 Author Posted August 27 (edited) Good idea, much as I like to think it'll all go smoothly, there's always something... I'll be having a go this weekend all being well, see what's lurking in there Edited August 27 by Mr S added a bit Quote
Slabbie11 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Mine was tight on the raised rib on the inside of the headstock reinforcement & the front of the camchain tunnel casting on the front of the head. There is quite a bit of slack in the engine mounts so depending on where it landed when it was tightened up might make it tight to get it to clear - I slacked everything off & managed to get it to clear ok. Not a bad job to be fair, getting the barrel back on in situ with a 1230 kit…not quite so easy! Stew. Quote
Mr S Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Good to know, cheers. Reminds me actually, mine is missing the rear upper engine mount at the minute - another job to add to the list! Quote
Mr S Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Happy to report that yep, head came off nice and easily without any additional removal of stuff. Thanks all 3 Quote
