EFE Cylinder Head removal

Just a quick one - can you remove the cylinder head off an 1100efe with the engine still in the frame? Looks like you should be able to, but figured I'd ask first... Cheers

I was able to remove the head off of my esd. I would expect you could do the same!

Yes you can.....removing the coils makes life easier

Nice one, cheers - already got the coils off so that's one less job to do!

I like to slide a piece of cardboard inbetween the head and the studs after I lift it up so that I dont gouge the gead while fiddling to get it out

Good idea, much as I like to think it'll all go smoothly, there's always something...

Mine was tight on the raised rib on the inside of the headstock reinforcement & the front of the camchain tunnel casting on the front of the head. There is quite a bit of slack in the engine mounts so depending on where it landed when it was tightened up might make it tight to get it to clear - I slacked everything off & managed to get it to clear ok. Not a bad job to be fair, getting the barrel back on in situ with a 1230 kit…not quite so easy!

Good to know, cheers. Reminds me actually, mine is missing the rear upper engine mount at the minute - another job to add to the list!

Happy to report that yep, head came off nice and easily without any additional removal of stuff. Thanks all
