Upshotknothole Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I'm sick of having passenger pegs on my bike. I've got a factory solo cowl and pad that cost me way too much money, even have a nice fancy Ti exhaust hanger. But I'm always stuck with the left side passenger peg because of the seat release lock. I know lots of you have moved the lock, where did you put it and how did you mount it? I've simply removed it and tucked the cable up under the tail with a zip tie on other bikes, but I'd prefer to keep the lock on this bike. Here's what I'm sick of looking at. It looks so much nicer without the passenger pegs. Quote
Captain Chaos Posted August 26 Posted August 26 When I had a 750M I had removed the lock and cable completely. To remove the seat you have to remove the pad from the solo cowl anyway, then you can reach the lock with your fingers and unlock the seat. But I did not live in Portland so I did not really need a lock. 1 Quote

It's not like it's all that hard to bypass the lock, I know I've popped plenty of seats off GSXR projects when I couldn't be bothered to go find the key. I was just hoping there might be an easy spot to relocate it to, if not I'll figure out a way to hide the cable or just do like you did and remove it when I'm using the solo cowl. Quote

Looking for inspiration. Whenever I look at it I don't see any place to move it that's practical that doesn't require getting a longer cable. Quote

I’m not familiar with the specific set up, but looking at your photo of the lock in situ can you not “modify/cut down” the pillion peg to just leave the part that supports the lock? ( please excuse the terrible IT skillz…) Quote

( please excuse the terrible IT skillz…) I could, but those things are heavy and I really want to try and strip some weight off the bike. I'm gonna pull the whole thing off and pull the lock and see if I can't figure out another spot for it, or I'll just hide the cable somewhere. Quote
