Captain Chaos Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Still Tourmax is better quality than most aftermarket stuff. They also make fork seals by the way. Quote
Nick Posted June 28, 2024 Author Posted June 28, 2024 Ordered some Mikuni OE ones... spot the difference. Not sure whether I've been stung with 'fake' Tourmax stuff, but the quality of their valves is noticeably rough when compared to the OE. I hope this cures my rich running and leaking issue! Pic for comparison. 1 Quote

Probably one of the biggest causes of failure when folk with an otherwise good mechanical aptitude attempt to rebuild these carbs for the first time. If you look closer at the float cage you will see that it's held firmly down by the float bowl when it's all screwed back together, you need to mimick this & I know some rebuilders have a cutaway float bowl for this very purpose. You're not, you've just saved me a load of grief. Information is only obvious if you already know it. 1 Quote
Crass Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) I'm pretty sure I've got exactly the same problem you had. Rebuild kit from Wemoto, not branded but the float valves look identical to the wrong ones you were supplied with and yep, fuel pissing out. Thankfully I saw on here to benchtest first. The floats definitely sit at a significantly different height to the OEM valves with these. The OEM ones weren't actually causing a problem so they're going back in. I only wanted the kit for the gaskets etc but decided to use the new valves as well. Edited November 29, 2024 by Crass Error Quote
