jb Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Could someone please do me a big favour and measure the distance between the front and back top engine mounting points on a gs750 engine….ideally it’s easier if the engine is out of the bike so you can use some round bar pushed inside the mounts to get a fairly accurate between centers measurement for me……cheers Quote
jb Posted February 26, 2023 Author Posted February 26, 2023 The reason behind the question is that I’m trying to confirm what engine fits in a special frame that I’ve recently acquired…… 2 Quote
gorbys Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 I can check next week if no one else can do it before then. Send me a PM if so Quote

Swiss Toni Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Just had a measure. 215mm, lower rear to lower middle mount … a bit awkward using one hand for each! Upper rear to front is 402mm give or take a mil. You can just see the front engine bolt below the tape. That’s from a ‘78 750 2valve. I would imagine the later 4 valve TSCC cases are the same dimms? Don’t know. Just guessing Edited March 2, 2023 by Swiss Toni 1 Quote

Just guessing Thanks mate….it’s the upper rear to front that’s critical, and judging by your measurement it’s a little too big for my frame….much appreciated, but it’s back to the drawing board Quote

Yes I believe so mate, unfortunately I’m missing the frame number…..as it’s a quite early frame I was hopeful that the engine choice would have been minimal but it may not be for a Suzuki after all, I’ve tried a gs1000 engine and it fits snugly, but is 10mm too short for the mounting points Quote
clivegto Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 JB I've discovered recently that my one originally had a GS1000 motor fitted. Also around that time quite a few had Jota motors fitted. I have a 1100et motor I could measure if you like. 1 Quote

Yes please, that would be great thanks Clive…… heres a picture showing how I’ve been measuring the mounting points distance (sorry it’s a foreign engine but it’s all I have to hand) 1 Quote
clivegto Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Hear you go bud. First picture is the 1100ET motor second is a Harris Magnum 2 frame that originally had a 1100ET engine fitted. 1 Quote

Just guessing Later engines are shorter front to back. I went from a 2valve gs engine to a 4valve gsx and had to make new longer engine mounts for the rear so it would bolt into the gs frame 1 Quote
