Jeb Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Hi, Quick question...if I need to heighten the back end of my bike, say, by 50mm, does that mean i need 50mm shorter dog bones? Cheers Quote
Devilman Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 It depends what the linkage ratio is, which will be different from bike to bike. What bike are you looking to raise the back end on? Quote
Jeb Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 An 1100f....I can get another shock that will fit but it's been lowered from new by 50mm ( it's the same length)... Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 As a rule,of thumb on a b12 5 mm difference on the dog bones lifted or dropped the riders seat height 25mm 1 Quote
Jeb Posted February 11, 2023 Author Posted February 11, 2023 Ok thanks...I'll have to look for further info Quote
Nik Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 To OP; IIRC, the 1100F doesn't use conventional dogbones, but a bit more complex assembly of dogbones and spacers etc. Check up on it so you don't buy the same kind of simple dogbones used on slingshots by mistake. Quote
Joseph Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Take the underpan off, and use car jacks (carefully make sure it's well supported, and front brake zip tied ON) after disconnecting the dogbones to adjust slowly to the height you want then measure the difference in bone length Quote
Jeb Posted February 13, 2023 Author Posted February 13, 2023 Thanks, I was thinking something similar but this will be safer! Quote
