jonny1bump Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Seems to be not fitted to 750 slingshot models. Quote
DAZ Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Maybe by the time slingshots arrived the factory decided it was unnecessary for production bikes, did it remain as part of a race kit? Or just unnecessary..... Quote
jonny1bump Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 But it gets put back on the 750 shim models, I forgot to add. Its on all 1100 models not sure about gsx etc. Quote
DAZ Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Well it's not like the 750 j/k/l have any well known issues without it so we remain baffled Quote
Gixer1460 Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Possibly just an elaborate spring seat solution to increase spring pressure marginally ? Quote
Nik Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) It's there to dissipate heat to the oil, not to the other valve areas. Edited January 16, 2023 by Nik Quote

jonny1bump Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Nik I really do get your thinking but the cooling oil jets get squirted directly onto combustion crown covered with the plates by the spring seat so only get splash oil. I know head swims in the stuff but you know what I mean. Quote
jonny1bump Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Admittedly cant think of any other reason, really not sure on this one in two minds. 1 Quote
DAZ Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) Just had an abstract thought is there a plate like this on previous engines ie gsx or gs and in a very un Japanese way someone said we always fit these....or maybe in some way it controls harmonics that affect the springs sort of like when you bolt big bar end weights on..... jonny1bump Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I think gs stuff bucket and shim job. Quote
