Gsx F 1100 clutch plates

Hello all, what would have caused this to the clutch plates, the bike had been sat for years before I got it, funnily enough it didn't run too bad, was notchy on gear changes though. Had to take the clutch apart to change the shift shaft.

Dried out, dropped off! Make sure you get all the crap out the bottom of the case. And the sump!

Am amazed that clutch worked without slipping at all.

I had a set of fibres do this once. Weirdly rode fine. They were soaked in oil for 24 hours before going in, oil was fine in the motor and clutch had done a few 1000 miles. Luckily all the squares were accounted for

I wonder if they where cheap crap plates ??

It happened on my 1100f engine and my rf900.. (same fibre discs)

They probably sat for long and dried up.. were the bald sections all in the same direction?

I had to remove the pan to remove them all. In my case fibres pads jamed in the clutch basket and cause the clutch drag that had me opening it to inspect..

What a fun party between the copper washer of the oil pickup that fell 3 times and the rusted exhaust..
