GT750 4-LS front brake into T500

Recommended Posts

GT750J front brake to go in to my 1975 T500 …

Front wheel just back from being built… 18” Morad ‘valanced’ polished rim, stainless ‘butted’ spokes, GT750J 4-LS front brake - polished, zinc-plated, chromed, etc., etc….
Many thanks to Simon @ AberMoto Suzuki for his help & advice.. (y)

The five rubber blanking-plugs that sit in the brake backing-plates are currently soaking in a 3:1 mix of Wintergreen Oil (1 part) & 100% Alcohol (3 parts)… I have found this an excellent way of reviving old rubber parts - worked very well in returning 1989 GSX-R carb’ rubbers from virtually unusable to an as-new condition

Way back in the early 80's the standard twin leading shoe brake on my T500 was shall we say poor, on my GT500a the single disc was little better so it ended up with the fork legs and double discs from a GT750b which were okay (ish).

Still fancy another T500 or GT500 but the prices are utterly ridiculous , in September I bought an 18 plate KTM 1090 Adventure for the same price of a good T500
