Hi,

I have read somewhere that the 1100 'M' cylinder head can be converted from shim to screw & locknut... does anyone have any knowledge of this??

Easier to buy a screw and locknut head....

It can be, but not easily - why? - The 'M' head works fine . . . . . unless it's camshaft reasons?

I’ve heard that with upgraded cam’s the M head is susceptible to spitting shims??

APE did a better retainer that stops that happening with high lift cams etc

Got those in mine! But I think a lot of the problems is from over revving the engine / buzzing them on a missed gear change at high revs. Peak power is normally well down from the red line so stay away from it and all will be good - hopefully?

Unless the M head ports are significantly better for flow and HP or for your exact needs, i would just buy an earlier screw and nut head ?

I mean if your plan is to build a tuned engine you are probably going port it anyway, so...
