Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 What are the differences between GSXR 750 (88-90) and 1100 (89-90) fairings. I assume the mid sections are different due to height of engines. But what about the rest? I Googled and got different answers. I have an 88 750 and looking at my options for original type fairing. MooreMatthew Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Mounting hole different for mids but could make a bracket up The fairings on a 750 and 1100 are different and need the matching headlight bracket to work Not sure about lowers But my 1100k has 750k upper and mids will be running turbo so not wanting a belly pan Quote
Captn Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) The 750 mids are different shape and this allows for the clearance of the low mount clip ons of the 750 to clear the upper when the bars are turned side to side. The 750 clip ons are below the top brace and the 1100 is above. The upper is a bit smaller on the 750 as well. The belly pans are the same. Here is the pic of the bike I just finished. It's a 1100 frame with 1100 forks. All of the bodywork is aftermarket Airtech GSXR1100. I had to fab all the tabs and headlight/fairing stay because of this configuration. I used a 92 oil 750 in it. Captn Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 As a note, the 1100 engine is taller so this translates into the bellypan being pulled up a bit higher when all factory mounting points are used. Header clearance can be an issue if using the 1 piece bellypan. Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 Cheers guys. One of the things i've really noticed (and get wound up by) is so many parts people are advertising stuff as as fits 750 and 1100. And while a lot of stuff fits or can be adapted it's not like for like. I'll make sure to get 750 fairing and mounts then. Quote
clivegto Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 @Not_so_Evil_Lloydthe 750 stuff varies as well, I is no expert though. Quote

There are some subtle tell-tale sings to identify what you're looking at. (With J,K and L slingshots )The 750 and 1100 headlight fairings have different shaped ram air holes, the 750 contours around the edge of the headlight whereas the 1100 just has round holes. The 750 side/mids have have a more pronounced bump that passes the back of the rocker cover, the 750 has two narrow side vents almost the same size, the 1100 side vents are not, the front one is wider but shorter the the rear one. Once you familiarise yourself more with slingshot fairings you'll know what you're looking at. 1 Quote
colinworth79 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 As mentioned above 1100 and 750 are different. Easiest way to tell a 750 side panel or top fairing is where they bolt together there is only 2 bolts. The 1100 ones have 3. 1 Quote
Not_so_Evil_Lloyd Posted May 2, 2020 Author Posted May 2, 2020 Cheers guys. After years of having butchered suzukis i just fancy one roughly as they were intended. Not doing a resto, can't be arsed with that just don't like the goldfish bowl headlight on the 750M i had years ago Quote
