Blue Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Are the original forks 780mm if measured the same way as usd’s? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Assuming you mean 750's? Mine are 735mm from axle centreline to top of leg. Can't help with 1100 dimms! Quote

Blue Posted February 5, 2019 Author Posted February 5, 2019 Thanks Toni sibag I had looked at that but it’s saying 580, that’s why I asked Quote
Mole28 Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 I've just measured both 750 g forks and 1100h. 750 ones are 745 from axle centre to top of leg and 1100 are 770. They are both off the bikes. Quote
Blue Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 (edited) Thanks Mole28, I’m just trying to work out how much shorter my gsxr1000 k5 forks are, I’ll have to get my tape measure out Edited February 6, 2019 by Blue Quote
Blue Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 Swiss Toni did you measure yours on or off the bike? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Off the bike. Also tried extending them in case of 'sticktion' but they went back to 735! Quote
Blue Posted February 6, 2019 Author Posted February 6, 2019 Ok thanks, could someone measure their 750 slabby forks on a running bike? without anyone sat on it, thanks Quote
Blue Posted February 7, 2019 Author Posted February 7, 2019 Anyone got a slabby with standard forks? Quote
Macduff Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 just measured the spare 750 slabby forks I've got and it was 745mm axle centre to fork cap . Think these are G/H forks if theres a difference with F ones (bar the smaller axle diameter?) Quote

Bizarrely I measured the other fork from the pair later and it was 10mm shorter? wtf, they were definitely used as a pair for some time, same scabby paint. I've not pulled them apart since I've had them so no idea why one is shorter . Quote
Blue Posted February 8, 2019 Author Posted February 8, 2019 Lol, I can’t seem to get a measurement from anyone with the forks fitted Quote
crow Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 9 hours ago, Blue said: Lol, I can’t seem to get a measurement from anyone with the forks fitted Measuring with the weight of the bike on the fork is unreliable because it's dependent on bike weight, springs fitted, how much fuel is in the tank etc... It's better to measure fully extended length and subtract the desired sag based on unit stroke, then set spring rate & preload to achieve that sag. e.g. let's say a slabby fork is 745mm with 120mm stroke, you might want about 40mm sag with the rider seated so your target length would be 705mm What are you using these numbers for? Blue Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 To see how my gsxr1000 forks compare Quote
Swiss Toni Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 There's a fork comparison chart on here somewhere. Quote
