tight valve clearances? RF's should tick over around 1300rpm when hot

Cam timing check.... something is not quite right
McLean Racing replied to Dukeman's topic in Oil Cooled
Im happy to admit when im wrong, its been a while since ive done an 1127 motor as i seem to have done alot of bandits lately but im sure the plates go on top. However, it wont hurt them being on the bottom, if in doubt. Get some slotted sprockets on the cams and degree them in to be sure -
McLean Racing started following Bandit Carb issue!! and Cam timing check.... something is not quite right

As i said on facebook. The cam chain idler is assembled wrong. The plates at the bottom of the tensioner need to be on top under the head of the bolts. Your inlet cam will be retarded. When you assemble the idler correctly. Itll push the chain down and bring the marks into alignment. Make sure ur remove the tensioner before u do this -
You cant get it near the rubbers because the carbs need to be moved over to the right to allow them to line up with the rubbers, in the pic, its already touching. You need to cut part of the float bowl away or the frame to get clearance. That said, you can fit RS carbs into a powerscreen, but they dont bolt straight in, u need to modify either the carbs or frame do it. It was tight as fook when i fitted throttle bodies too but they went in.....just

they 100% will not go in Brian without cutting the float bowls, I tried to fit RS40s and decided to go EFI instead. I think it was the RH float bowl needed the accel pump part cut off it and I wasnt prepared to do that. Its that or take a grinder to the inside of the frame

Id say you are about maxxed out on what you can afford to "bolt on". Porting the head will yeild more power if you are competent enough to do so but its not easy, and not recomended to do yourself if you are not familiar with engine tuning

Warpspeed Racing although predominantly do dragbike chassis, have done road chassis in the past Ian and Jim at Cross Customs also starting to make very nice custom alloy frames

No problem, theres not many carb issues i havent seen although im still learning new ones with this modern E10 shit petrol we have to deal with
-
Have you got warped or concaved steel plates? you only need 1 or 2 to cause an issue
-
Ive had this exact issue before on a bike that came in to my workshop after being worked on by another local bike shop, after alot of swearing and head scratching, it turned out that someone had put the needle seats in upside down before refitting the emulsion tubes. It rode like a brand new bike after that. Ive attached a picture of one. The tapered side needs to be the side that sits in the airflow. Hope this helps
