Does anyone have a rear caliper hanger that needs a home?

I also have a few Slingy rear caliper hangers, one of them is yours if you want it :)

  2. After a protracted false start where DVLA lost, or never received all the documentation pertaining to registration, I finally have a UK registration document and number. The weather was shit but a quick 85 mile blast to celebrate it's new found legal status. The GS can have it's number plate back now :pimp:

Right,  ive been to look through a load of boxes in storage to find the photos and to my annoyance I still can’t find them. Unfortunately when I moved some of the stuff got spread out to different locations including all of my photographs. I will find them at some point, this I do know. But that is of no use to you now.

I've spoke to Pip and he is sending me some pictures and VBS stickers so I can recreate the original look.. Thanks for looking though man :)

Yep not forgotten, just been busy with work, checked some months back where I thought they were but the photo's weren't there, I'm pretty sure I know where they are now.  I'll try and grab them this weekend

    Thanks man :)

Thats wicked.... the bike was built to my spec. There is hardly anything on it or inside it thats standard, Wiseco pistons, Kent Cams, Dyna Coils, welded crank, multi angled valves, the frames welded etc... nearly all the nuts and bolts are stainless. I was 21 when I had it built...

Were did you get it from and how long have you had it ? Does it still have the VBS logo on the tank ?

Any luck finding any photos? I'm ready to paint it now, want to put the VBS logo back on to, need to see position

Bare with me as the photos I do have are in my mates attic so it may take a few weeks. It’s pretty much the same as it was, the exhaust was a Vance & Hines, it looked better than the one on there now,  i think the rear mudguard was shorter and the plate smaller, It was a big accident, I don’t have the photos of it afterwards ( although they do exist somewhere ) amounts other things the back end was ripped off,  it travelled along way going end over end and then rolled before stopping in a plum of smoke. That paint is VBS colours ( i think done by dream machine ) the VBS logo was down the middle of the tank.

    Much appreciated :)

for the price delkevic are hard to beat......did you leave the baffle in or take it out....bad ass looking bike

Baffle needs to come out, it's running a little rich at the moment. In fact it needs putting on a DYNO, power is considerably down compared to the pipes that came with it

I'd be very interested in a detailed spec list :) I have had some contact with Pip about it but only really to confirm it's providence. It was  on Eblag for months with a very vague description and (for a non standard GS1000 with no details of changes) a high price. I picked it up in Halifax earlier this year, the seller knew nothing about it at all. It hadn't been on the road for nearly 20 years, the Tax disk on it was from 2003, the tyres were rock hard but it was/is in really good condition. It had obviously been stored in a sympathetic environment , I had the impression it was bought in a probate sale or something, the chap I bought it from was a car dealer from what I could see although he did have other bikes. I could tell from the standard of the changes the bike had been built right, I'd just come into a bit of money, so I didn't mind paying a little over the odds, although he got nothing like what he was asking for ;) I'm going to paint it exactly as it is now, It's quite scratched up. No VBS logos anywhere on it at the mo, but I think I would be justified in adding one or two :) You wouldn't have any photos from the old days? It'd be cool to get it looking identical how it was when it left the Village Bike Shop in the first place?

Unreal, thats the bike pip Higham built for me. I know every inch of that bike. I had a massive accident on it and smashed it to pieces. I sold it back to Village Bike Shop or something like that, I can’t remember it was in the late 80’s and they rebuilt it. It looks pretty much as it was except the exhaust pipe and it had my name on the tail piece. It’s quite weird to see it.

That's really cool. A couple of weeks ago it took me and the wife over to Holland and back, didn't miss a beat.

  10. And now it's in my garage. Well, with my MOT guy..... after an interesting COVID-19 effected road trip.

Last time the tyres are on Dutch tarmac, for a while..

And you could not give gs850 engines away at one point.

And yes, the 850 barrels will go on to the 750 bottom end, but as @Duckndive said best benefit would be to use complete top end, gsxr750 zorst will fit the gs850 top end with a bit of a tweek and if I remember gsxr tin top carbs will fit.

A google search found a response you had given someone on the Proboards site which I passed on to the chap that was asking the question :) Thanks Wraith, and Clive :)

  12. Thanks folks. Cable's good, new oil and filter. Carbs could do with a sync and balance, and a bit of DYNO time with the new pipe I guess.  I'm erring toward warped/stuck clutch plates after such a long lay up. Thanks

  13. Morning gurus. On the way in to work this morning I noticed the old girl has developed a bit of a 'judder' as you let the clutch out to set off in first. Now I remember something similar on my old GS thou 30 odd years ago but I can't for the life remember how I cured it. Suggestions. It's been stood 20 odd years so there are going to be niggles. The chain is ancient, but I checked there were no tight links and the sprockets aren't 'hooked' soI think it's in the motor. Ideas?

Please post some pics when it's installed.  Curious to see what the ground clearance is like (can't fit mine up yet cause the GS is still up on blocks).

    what's the plan @Havoc?

Rip out the engine for in your Katanaha (Is that finished yet by the way?) and sell the frame? :D

Plan is ride it Capt', the engine in the Katanaha is staying :) the frame was built for it. I've a few 1216 turbo Suzuki engines, that wasn't the draw :)
