An early Covid-Christmas-Present.... I bought my first Yoshimura tuning part back in 1984, when I visited Dixon Racing in Godalming.... it was only a 'Yoshi' cloth patch to sew onto my leathers, but it seemed to work!!

Today I 'broke the piggy-bank' & splashed out on a set of Stage 2 cam's for for the Harris... I am basically building the 'bike that I dreamt of in my late teens... It may not be 'period-correct', but it is how I see it would have evolved in my ownership over the past couple of decades....

Still a long way to go, but each step is a step closer to the 'bike being finished (y)

p.s. excellent comprehensive installation instructions in Japanese... anyone care to translate?

If you find out please let me know, I have a set to fit too :)

There is no requirement to measure the separation distance and they should only be rejected if the separation distance is obviously incorrect.

So up to the tester then (y)

It was added a couple of years ago.

Mandatory direction indicators must have minimum separation distances between the illuminating surfaces of:

    • solo motorcycles - 240mm at the front and 180mm at the rear

There is no requirement to measure the separation distance and they should only be rejected if the separation distance is obviously incorrect.

I believe indicators must be a minimum of 350mm a part for an m.o.t, unless the bike is as originally homologated.

    :)

Spacing is not a concern on MOT, only on C&U or MSVA :)

The problem there would to be the preceding sentence but one, which sets a caveat that enables mot testers to ignore any 1971 get-out clause if they so wish. If there's a stated first use date after April 86 on the v5, then a Q reg still needs 2 brake light switches, indicators etc., unless the first use date can be proved as incorrect, which would be pretty much impossible.

thats not the way i read it!! but thats half the problem with MOT, too many variables in how to interpret them!!

So what year is a Q plate?

71 for MOT purposes, extract from the MOT Regs

    "

    1. b. Motorcycles with a Q plate registration when presented for MOT are to be treated as being first used on 1 January 1971.

Got the huge O.o b12 lithium ion battery to fit in the undertray by trimming a bit out of the subframe, plastic undertray and back seat catch bracket. Just needs a bit of thin foam to sit on now. IMG_20201101_145710.thumb.jpg.b97477a6cb1258a794f3cd274f392f56.jpg

Haha, that plastic box will be 70% empty, should have just cut that down mate :)

  8. "The exhaust system and silencer should be in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the motorcycle is not clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar motorcycle with a standard silencer in average condition."

leaves a lot to the inspector!!

  9. you put the details of your frame into the boxes for make, date, model etc , then it brings up a list of all the forks that will fit and the bearings you need to fit them, just scroll down till you find Suzuki GSF600  2000.

it gives you the bearing sizes i have already said with their part No's in blue

    top bearing = 25 - 48 - 13

    bottom bearing = 30 - 48 - 12

  10. measure your GS bearing seats on frame top and bottom (bearing outside measurement), then measure the stem you want to use top and bottom seats (B6? bearing inside measurement)

    then find bearings to match,

allballs thing shows GS750 1978 frame with bandit 600 2000 forks

    top bearing = 25 - 48 - 13

    bottom bearing = 30 - 48 - 12

OK, yeah the dynas do take up a bit of space but with having a new loom built it should tidy some of that up anyway. Ill be keeping that diagram as I might put stick coils on my slingshot, which coils did you use?

Ignitech do stick coils and they come with the connectors for your loom :)

As far as I know; all OEM Suzuki straps were blue

Rene, the 44252-00A00-57S  part No for the GSX1100 seems to be blue, but the 44252-00A00-58R part No for the GS1150 looks to be listed as black, all the knee straps listed on Robinsons foundry are the 57S ones!
