  1. Thanks again I really appreciate it, it's nice to have someone like the parts I make as sometimes I'm not sure if there actually any good lol, I show a few of my mates and the wife and they just say... Oh yeah that's nice. And don't realise the time and headaches I get trying to make things. The cam links increase the oil flow to the head, I think they are only really needed in more tuned engines with bigger bores and I think high lift cams but I wanted some for my bike and after looking at the price of them I tried to make my own and that's how they turned out. I'm sorry nuuageslim but I couldn't commit to making you anything unfortunately, I'd love to make bike parts all day long but with work the wife and learning how to tig weld now I just don't think I have the time. nlovien that's actually how I feel about my bikes, it's never off my mind wondering how to make some thing or how to solve a problem with a part I'm trying to make, each part is a project and once it's done it feels good and I can move on to the next. Id love to have cnc parts but that's not my expertise so I make my parts with the tools and skills I've got and enjoy learning a long the way. I do love riding my bikes but making and building one is more my thing.
  2. Sorry gmseed not atm, my bikes a mess with no rear end atm, I'm hoping to tack up the subframe soon and I'll pull it outside and take some shots and post them up, thanks guys I appreciate it :-)
  3. Thanks madb I appreciate that, I did have a bit of trail and error with them, they took the longest to make spent about a month messing about with them, the stainless ones are a lot better tho but were really hard to bend and get a good radius on the bends, came up with a little mack that got the bend pretty good, once I can weld I can finish them and add the rear brake cylinder somewhere on it lol. a set of cnc'd ones were a few hundred quid and I couldn't afford them.
  4. Thanks I'm trying to use brass in this bike a lot to hopefully go with a black and gold colour scheme. I'm enjoying the tig welding but the argon gas is the down side, trying to go easy on it but you have to use a lot of it really to learn, might see if I can get some practice in at work, at least it'll be free practice time then lol
  5. Thanks I appreciate that, they had to be remade out of stainless as I had rigidity issues with them but the 316 stainless steel ones are fine, it was hard to bend by hand tho and they are a little heavy but was fun making them.
  6. I thought I'd show a few parts I've been making for my bike over the last few months, I'm pretty pleased with them but now I've bought a tig so I'm learning to weld so I can get the subframe all sorted as that job has dragged on a while now, argon isn't cheap tho I've found lol.
  7. Thanks for your help guys, I was concerned about the small contact area on the rose joint because the bolt will only be sitting on a few mm, I've made a stainless washer that will hopefully do the job. Here's a pic of the one I've made so far
  8. Thanks guys, I appreciate that, I'll get some stainless ones I think, hopefully they'll be ok. I got some rose joints from mcgills for the track rod end, I haven't bolted it all up yet but hopefully they'll do the job.
  9. I've made some adjustable dogbones for my bike and need some longer bolts, I just wanted to ask what's the most suitable bolt to use here, is stainless ok for would it have to be high tensile, they are m14 and it needs to be 155mm long? Cheers
  10. Thanks for all your help everyone, plenty to research, does the r6 battery work? What dimensions are they? @gsx
  11. Thanks say what now!? 1460 that's gave me some hope, do you know if the r6 battery mod use to work ok? Wad the results good? Cheers Mark, I did look into that bit may be to technical for me and I think I may struggle with a project like that for the bike, it's giving me a headache as it is and that might send me over the edge lol
  12. Thanks for the info guys, the 14ah ones I've found are too big, I'm trying to fit it in the tail section which is quite small, if I have to use a 14ah one tho I will I'll try and fit it somewhere else, the 10ah battery sizes tho would be perfect I'm just worried that it won't power the bike correctly or be unreliable.
  13. Thanks dup, what version do you use? Are you using that on a gsxr? Do you think your one would be suitable for my gsxr 750 1990? Thanks for all your help
  14. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it, I'm not to experienced with the technical side of batteries so want to choose the right one. Would a lithium one and the lipo types still charge from the standard alternate? Are there any mods to the wiring loom that needs to be done? In choosing a battery do I just need to get similar specs with the ah and cca? Would a lower spec still run the bike? Cheers
  15. Thanks for your help guys, would they be suitable for a gsxr 750 1990, do the cca have to be the same for the battery to power the bike correctly? And the ah?
  16. I'm looking at getting the battery for my bike but really need to get as small as one as possible, I don't know much about battery but I'm guessing the ah and cca need to be the same, the one on my gsxr 750 1990 is massive compared to the one on my gsxr 750 1992 wn, I've read that some people have used small r6 batteries. i wanted to ask is anyone know of a smaller battery that will be ok in my gsxr 750 1990, I want to get a gel one if possible? Cheers
  17. Thanks mate that's some great info and will come in real handy, the moto gadget buttons are a 3 cluster set up each with 1 small wire coming off, I'm hoping to use two sets of these to do all of the operations I'll need at the handle bars, not sure how it'll work tho if there's only one wire coming grok the button, do you have to use any resistors when using a relay or a fuse with it? Thanks again mate
  18. Thanks for replying mate, I want to change all the controls to these push buttons if possible? Do you know what type or latching relay you use? Would I need resistors or anything else in the relay circuit?
  19. I've been looking into changing the switch gear on my build and I want something similar to the moto gadget ones, the push buttons, I need some help or advice tho on adapting them to use on my bike, I think you can make them work with relays but electrics is my area so was just seeing if anyone could explain or hep me to understand what I'll need to do? I can't afford that m unit they do unfortunately tho. Cheers
  20. Thanks for your advice everyone, I'll have a good think before I start this part of the bike, I'm still trying to figure out the subframe. I think if like you said it's insulated then maybe some protection between the tank and battery too, I have thought of something cool to help cool things down but not sure if it'll work or look good lol, I'm hoping to mount the clock on the tank too so this will give good area for wires to come through. Cheers
  21. Thanks hommer did you have any issues or worries about the battery being so close to the engine?
  22. Thanks guys, no I'll be using pod filters, I know it'll affect performance but this bike will be about the old mainly and machined parts, I'll take a look at those batteries mate cheers, could be a fun project to mod the tank as long as it goes to plan lol
  23. I'm having trouble finding somewhere to hide the battery on my gsxr 750 1990 tracker build, I'm thinking about loosing a third of the tank and blanking it off and keeping a 3rd of it to house the battery, I'm not sure if it's something I can do but I'm willing to give it a try, I just wanted to see if anyone has any advice on welding these tanks? I'm sure it won't be easy, I was also concerned about the heat from the engine affecting the battery? There's no room in the tail where I originally wanted to put it, any advice would be great. Cheers
  24. Thanks mate, I'll get some of that then :-)
