  2. Hi guys.

I have and idea, probably insane one and that's why i'm asking.

I have 1992 GSXF 748 and 1998 B12 1998 engines, i'm going to use B12 cases, transmission and crank in another project and get new block for it.

I'd like to use head (DOT), cases, transmission and crank of 748 with B12 block and pistons.

B12 piston pin size is different (IIRC 18mm vs 20mm) and rods are too big from big end.

B12 block is also taller than 748 so 748 rods won't work either, so i thought using custom rods on this beast.

    Question is:

If i get matching custom rods what it will make, 955 or 1157 or something else? Will 748 crank make it? I won't be using turbo or nitrous on this engine.

Other options would be using B12 crank in 748 cases, IIRC it should fit or boring 748 to 955 (79mm).

Stroke is determined by the crank not the length of the con rod ....

  3. Odd but

I use a length of aluminium box and drop a string line's down to check centre

But a string line from the headstock to the centre of the frame at the rear works.....you should then be able to check if the swinger and then the wheel is in the right place..

I would use the centre of top dog bone pivot as a ref point for the arm  given the pivot may have been hacked and see what you need to do ....

  4. Ok slingshot & bandit arms are about the same internal dim where the wheel goes ..245mm ish....

on an EFE with a bandit or slingshot arm the chain is very close to the frame "and the foot peg bolts" and its usual to use a 530 chain with a 3/8th or 5/8th offset front sprocket...

looking at your pics again "and what I used in mine"..  your chain side spacer looks about the same and the bottom " slingshot / bandit " hanger in lower pic is what used......

So regardless of it being in the middle or not  Does the wheel fit in the arm with those ?

  5. And Back in the Room.............:v

All back together and fired up...minor clutch adjustment aside all ok Ya got to luv the cometic case gaskets re-used with no leaks.:tu

Will try and get it back down the strip before year end to test it out...B|

  6. Obviously I'm not the Lock-up expert but as far as differences,

I know the b12 has an Aluminum basket while the gsxr1100 89-93 & the gsxf1100 / G have the steal ones.

The b12 has totally different plates then the earlier bikes.

The 88-93 gsx-f1100 was coil sprung while the gsxr1100 89+ was Diaphragm.

I think all the gsx-1100g had the same Diaphragm set up as the gsxr1100 89+

Pretty sure I'm on target but by no means is my word the law.

All the Oil boiler locks ups are the same unit.....BUT they use "need" an adaptor to fit on Diaphragm clutch.....

Personally I would do a coil spring conversion on a diaphragm clutch if I was going to fit a lock up......

  7. Picked up new sticker  gasket ...

then after a complete freak cluster #uc# ended up pulling the motor out and splitting cases to retrieve it :S...

So after the unscheduled trip onto the bench...The motor is now 3/4 back together and back in the frame..:).needing just the clutch and wizzy bang system refitting...9_9

  9. So not stick coils but pretty much any 4 cyl coils  should fit?............YES

If so are there any that are better or are they all the same?..........DYNA but they are not OEM fit

  10. Yer still confused.......

so correct me if I'm wrong I need to get the busa Pistons sitting 1mm below deck to get the compression ratio I want for turboing?

    I don't think so ..9_9

Have you actually worked out what the C/R is with the parts you are using ?

What is your target C/R ....

  11. Ok curiosity got the better of me so in true Archimedes Fashion :v got the bike up at stupid angle and measured the Bus Pistons recess....

Drum Roll Bish Bash Bosh Ta Daaaaaaaaaa and its,...................................8cc ..9_9

So can do some proper "Real World" 9_9 sums now..............:tu

  12. So you're saying busa pistons dont lower the compression at all? And the famous mustapha dump was either full of shit or all those people forgot they're specs.

Simply pointing out that you should not listen to hearsay "or I was told"............:v

Yes they Do lower the C/R ...but you will need to Do the sums for the parts that you are using in your application.....to find your C/R ...

But there is no mileage in removing material from the block that's for sure....9_9
