Crap...the engine is sweet as a nut so it would be a real shame to take it apart...unless I up the capacity whilst I'm at it...!

You don't have to pull the top end off to swap the crank.....splitting the cases to do the bottom end is a days work........

Can I ask why you opted for the Hays Convertible Clutch ?

What is big power by the way? The aim and probabillity here is 300 ATW...too much?

Well the GSXR1100F was more of a lower power budget tourer style bike hence the helical gears and only 34mm carbs ...as opposed to the GSXR 1100 K , L and on which were sports bikes 36MM 38MM and later 40MM carbs all having straight cuts ......the B12 got straight cuts by virtue of being a K ,L motor with more cc but less punch in the cam dept..

If it helps I have a B12 crank that needs a regrind on one BE journal and I,m sure I have the matching clutch basket....

Big Power well 300 is a big hope on helical's IMHO ..... I put Straight cuts in my poxey 200 BHP air cooled motor

    Yes, why?

Big Power & Helical Gears not play together very well as it tends to push / send the clutch basket out the case's :S

to change to straight cuts you need either a GSXR Crank and Clutch Basket or  Blandit Crank & Basket.....

    ...the clutch shat itself...

Basicly it was making more power everywhere and boostcontrol was MUCH better so all seemed well whilst we were slowly upping the boost and adjusting the fuelling to suit...BUT (there's alway's one, isn't there?) the clutch decided to let go...

And not just any clutch: A Hayes convertible clutch...it sheared the cover of the basket, ripping the basket and smashing the plates whilst at it so won't be a cheap fix then...

Properly gutted BUT (See? There really always is one!) very pleased I was right with regards to the exhaustmanifold and linkpipe!

OOOOh Bad News ..what set up was this on ?

As in; piece for piece and lining it all up individually?

No chance I'd be doing this myself anytime soon, it's just the theory that intrigues me.

You need it apart to get access to the pins and webs to weld them........as the bearings are in the way.......

All depts. on how far you want to go with the welding..."factory is just about 25-30 mm on journal to the web" ......and they don't bother with the gear.....

A full tilt FB or PS crank is normaly pinned and fully welded.......

isnt there a difference in the starter clutch or did i imagine that? i know the clutch gear is different.

    No..

but the starter motor and the intermediate gear are.................

Then I stand very much corrected . I assumed the Efe had the 2 Shims / washers as with the et .

Does it not cause wear without those shims ?

None in parts book and never had problem

I spoke too sean multiple times in the past and he gave me good advice while buildin the kwaksuki

rising rate just won't work he has been there and binned that plan the carb wil flood.

he told me that on woody's cat the last 100 mtr on the strip was done with a shot of nos cause the problem with drawthrough on big ass hp is getting fuel in the floatbowl

he mentioned that a bigger floatbowl does not solved this problem

only thing you can do is order the seat and needle that allows you to get more fuel in the bowl faster

gert jan had a hsr on the turbonetics in the past mounted with a rubber you can easily order at mikuni

Don't think gert jan bike went past 270 ish bhp

  9. Just been looking on a US turbo forum, one post from  bigcc racing , he shows a very impressive busa dyno reading.

Then the other members point out that they could get a scooter to show the same readings..... Matey thought his post would be taken at face value.......... The point is this, don't take things at face value , don't assume products from the like of matey boy are what you need, they are after your money.........seen too many people buying stuff they don't need.......

And I,d bet none of them did ....9_9

Sean has always argued that folk should use the same settings / rules for dyno runs......he also posts videos of his HP runs......on u tube as well as faceache

He can be a bit marmite but If Private Pike says it makes xxx Hp then it makes xxx Hp ...:tu

  10. Its not the fastest motor getting oil up that high.......do you have oil going to the rockers ?

assuming you are taking feed from the main gallery take the pipe off and see if you have oil at the feed connection ...and go from there ...

  11. In stock form there is a 100+cc capacity difference. This will be noticable when set up the same (carbs and exhaust)

Bandit has helical primary, whereas the Slabby will be straight-cut; less loss/more noise.

There's also the agedifference; a Slabby will be a good few years older than most Bandit engines.

There's quite a few more but someone more knowlegable than me will come along shortly and fill you in.

Bandit has straight cuts its the 1100F power-screen motor that has helical ;)

  12. Hi, do you prefer the s&s to the mikuni?

I fitted the S&S as its better for the 1/4 than the Micky Rooney ......which I also have and will run at some point

But both have there pros & cons and can be made to work on the street...:tu
