  1. What ever happened to filling the pits with superglue/jb weld and wet sanding it smooth
  2. Late one, this is narrower and apparantly what's needed. No line casting This one is earlier and had the cast line. These are wider and I believe need narrowing. 560mm long, not sure what slabbie arms are? But I think you will be extending the wheelbase a bit.
  3. I believe you want the later vfr750. Some folk don't mention the years. You want the one without the line casting. Ill try and find pics to show what i mean
  4. Great, thanks. Appreciate the help
  5. Oh well, never mind. I've committed to this one now. It was cheap enough.
  6. It's ok, I just bought a k3 frame on Eblag this evening! I figured with a frame in front of me, I can make a jig too.
  7. Bike looks ace! Can I ask how you have the headlights set up. You said one for low beam, one for high. But the lense for low beam won't dip will it? Did the tester care? Not really sure what the deal is legally, but am wanting to fit something similar to yours.
  8. It will be close enough, thanks. No huge rush though, probably won't be working on that area till the weekend.
  9. Someone must own a slingshot and a tape measure!
  10. Not specific to this bike/engine, but saying it's not been run in yet means nothing. By that i mean it changes nothing. It should sound, run, and operate perfectly. It just means you may need to take it a little easy for a while, but personally I'd just ride it normally. What I'm getting at is, be wary if the seller makes any excuses for the engine due to it not being run in. And noise and he says 'it's not run it', be wary. Any smoke and he says 'it's not run in', be wary. New rings in fresh bore, and the lube from assembly, will smoke when first run but if it's done a few miles it should be bedding in enough not to smoke.
  11. Should have measured this before taking things apart, but can anyone tell me the height of the center of the swingarm pivot bolt, on a 750 slingshot (1990, but they are probably all the same) When sat on both wheels, but without the riders weight. Thanks.
  12. I think they are. I've seen frames advertised as k3/k4. Not sure how easy it will be to measure on a complete bike, but even a bit of a stab at it with a guesstimate at the accuracy of the numbers would help. It all let's me know if I'm even close. Thanks.
  13. I'm not sure I can be a part of what you all get up to, but if it ends up with some usable measurements, then you can all do whatever you wish within the privacy of your own garages
  14. I am probably going to use the cushion linkage and shock. The arm im using isnt suzuki, but was on a k4 and used all the stock k4 stuff. I can't use stock slingshot stuff as it doesn't clear the arm, and the dogbone angle would be way off. So I need to make lower and upper frame mounts to use the k4 stuff.
  15. I have the shock, the top clevis, and the cushion. Maybe I can use those to judge if the drawing is to scale. If those 3 parts are, then maybe the rest is too.
  16. It does seem to be! I wasn't sure if the drawing would be to scale. I also wasn't sure how accurate I'd need to be. I could make the mounts, eyeball it comparing to the drawing, maybe try and scale some measurements, should be able to get it within 10mm I'd guess. Either that, or buy a frame. Either a bent one, or a good one and sell it again after.
  17. Is anyone able to measure a frame for me, or does anyone know of a technical drawing for the frame? I need to known the top shock mount on the frame (not the shock eye, where the adjustable mount bolts on) in relation to the swingarm pivot, and where the lower link mounts to the frame. Either measurements for the 3 sides of the triangle, like this Or distance between the top and bottom mount and then how far up that line and how far away the pivot is, like this Needs to be for a 1000 as I'm using that shock. Thanks.
  18. The shock eye says 328, my eye with a ruler says eye to eye is 330. I'm going to guess it is gsxr1000 k4 as the seller sort of hinted at.
  19. @Digs@Jukka My thoughts were to make a lower mount that's in the same position at the k4, hopefully do the same with the top mount, and then, hopefully with it all basically being stock k4, it will work well. How come you both seem to have gone with a different lower mount position that stock K? Although alot closer to stock position by the Looks of it. Is it because your top mounts aren't in stock k position? Or because the mix of parts doesn't sit the shock through the arm well? Or some other reason? Is it going to be messy if i try and replicate the top mount too?
  20. 19 row? An10, that the right size pipework?
  21. That does look, and no doubt work, much better. Hadnt really considered going new. I guess as long as the size is ok, the pipework can just be made up.
  22. I see slabside and slingshot have different connectors, but will they interchange if the relevant pipes are used too?
  23. I've searched, but couldn't find an answer. I'm not keen on the curved oil cooler on my 1990 750, it has no fairing so it looks a bit odd. Can I swap it for an earlier flat one? Do the pipes differ? I believe I can't use bandit, but wondered if all the oil cooled gsxr ones interchange. Thanks.
