  1. I'll check later, but that will sort it. Didn't realise they were all different lengths. The knuckle changed after k4, so assuming the shock and knuckle are from the same bike, it must be k4. Think it says 328 maybe, 32something on the bottom clevis but I'll measure in case it's been swapped. Thanks.
  2. Anyone got a link to the measurements of that bracket?
  3. I need to replicaye this. I have the linkage and the shock, just need to work the frame mounts out.
  4. If 750 k4 dimensions are the same as 1000 k4, if be interested in those measurements too. Knuckle mount to frame and top shock mount, in relation to the swingarm pivot would be handy.
  5. It is very similar. I've been looking at loads of pics, but they all look very similar to me!
  6. Trying to figure out what this shock and knuckle is off. I suspect it's gsxr1000, k4 or k5. Can anyone tell? I can't find any part numbers.
  7. Once I have everything in front of me I'll have a better idea, but I will try and replicate the stock geometry of either the slingy, the triumph the arm came from, or the k4 that the shock and linkage on the triumph arm is off. The issue come when I need to mix and match parts, bit I might not need to. I'm happy to move shock mounting points if need be. I'll post some better pics later, try and find out exactly what the shock and linkage on this arm is off.

    Which tail!

Cheaper than ive seen those before, but I want genuine, with a pillion seat.

    Which tail!

As good as they look, I can't get the mito/916 thing put of my head. Mito, being smaller, looks better. Harder to find though. 916 looks a bit more comfortable. Cheaper too!

    Which tail!

    It does sit nicely
  11. Decision made, pre modified triumph arm sourced! Progress will be posted in my build thread, when any happens.
  12. Off topic for this thread, but what swing arm is that?
  13. K series arms seems like the easiest way into a nicer swingarm. Means I then get to play with more modern wheels if I want to too as I'm not limited to whatever the sssa wheel is.
  14. Yes, I've heard the shock is offset. I may be missing something, but feels like making a new top mount to move the shock shouldn't be a problem.
  15. I have read that you can make the triumph hub fit the vfr arm but it doesn't sound easy. Needs sleeves and spacers making, which isn't too much of a problem, but needs spindles machining and the are hardened. I have a lathe so certain aspects aren't too hard. I have a lead on a pre narrowed triumph arm though, which I'll go look at. If not, I'll go get. Or sack it of and find an old under braced arm
  16. Yep, thanks. I was looking in the wrong section, was looking under suspension. They list a kit, 2 swingarm bearings, 2 linkage bearings, and 2 sleeves. £85. It takes 4 linkage bearings though and they don't sell them separately by the looks of it. It helps, but doesn't solve the issue completely. I'll e.mail them, see what they say. I'm preempting myself a little as i havent picked the bike up get. Just getting my head around the issues I already know about. Raring to get stuck in and parts research is all I can do right now. Possible it only needs 2 of the bearings anyway 20mm wide ones are £6.50 each though, I'll still see if some simple spacers will let those work if I can.
  17. I did look there, but didn't find swingarm bearings either. I'll look again
  18. Can't find the bearings cheap anywhere else. They are 20x27x23.5. It seems though that the width is what makes them suzuki only. 20mm or 25mm wide are available, I'll see when it's apart If it can be modified to use a generic size.
  19. What's the deal with these? The bike I bought needs new ones but I haven't got it here to inspect. It's a 1990. Just had a look on folwers site and they are £250! Can't seem to find them anywhere else apart from a dubious Eblag listing with a generic photo of 2 bearings when this link takes 5. Are they available at reasonable prices? Or is the only other option to find a decent used one? It's making the sssa swap even more appealing!
  20. Ive been looking at similar to a gsxr. All ive learnt so far is there are 2 width swingarms, and only vfr wheels fit. Possible to modify it to take triumph/ducati wheels but not easy from what I've read.
  21. Thanks. Slingshot is 225mm right? I'd assume the later vfr750 would be easier then, assuming it's width is centered in the frame. Gsxr k4/5 is 225mm too I believe. 60mm out of the triumph is a fair bit! I guess it's a hollow casting with a tube welded in so would need cutting, ends plating, tube 're welding, making sure everything stays lined up.
  22. Ducati is an option. I've even less idea about what's involved in fitting those though. There have been loads of gsxr sssa conversions over the years and yet I can't really find much info on what's involved. Don't need a 'how too', I'll work it out. But a rough idea of what issues need solving wpyld help me decide which one to use.
  23. There are different versions of the vfr750 arm aren't there? Maybe 2? Which one would work best if I go that route? Guess I should check the lengths too.
  24. I'm sure all the sssa conversion I've seen have been centered properly, but they never look it. They always look off center and like the bike is going to crab down the road. That's what puts me off slightly about the look, but I'm ignoring that. Maybe I'll just put an under braced arm in it, or an early K arm. That's not tooo out of period I guess. As long as I don't modify the frame, I can always swap it back out later so not irreversible.
  25. I've been looking at pics and it looks like it's not just a case of cutting some off, looks like it would need plates welding back in to close up the casting again. I'm not sure my ally welding is quite good enough for that. I have found a ducati arm that has cone from a k3 streetfighter so must have already been narrowed, but yeah, maybe vfr would be a better bet. I admit, I'm not quite 100% convinced I want to convert to sssa, but my bike needs all the shock linkage pivot wear sorting, and the rear wheel has a dent. As I'm looking to build something that could have been built in the mid/late 90s, when vfr conversions were considered trick, I'm tempted. Alot of what I do with this bike may well be considered tacky these days, but this bike is all about teenage nostalgia, not necessarily how id build one now.
