  1. Gladius sprockets are the go, SFV650 fit front and rear
  2. I have Conti road attack CR2 on in a 150. Works well
  3. Replacing the spring on most Ohlins is easy enough, and not hugely expensive. You can usually re-sell your old spring as well
  4. What are you using to read your mixture? If you're reading O2, a misfire will give a very lean reading, due to excessive unused oxygen in the exhaust. If you're using four gas analyser, HC will also shoot up with a misfire. Is it possible that there is something (Filters?) giving a restriction at high load high RPM which doesn't show at lower load? Also, have you checked your float heights? Are the air jets in the front of the carb bell mouths clear? My 85 with similar mods is running 125 mains (Mikuni), and making over 100hp
  5. Thanks for the detailed description. From the sounds of it I may as well look at getting aftermarket pistons as either way I'll be doing liners, and that gives the option of going to 955cc. I've spent a few years mucking about inside engines, and playing with compression and cam timing has got me over 100hp at the tyre so far.
  6. Hi guys, I remember in the old forum there was some info around using a particular stock piston to over bore the 85-87 GSXR 750. Does anyone still have that info, I think it was some generation of Kawa ZX-9 that could be used. I've acquired a spare set of barrels and head, so am keen to give it a go, everything about my bike is sleeper modifications, looks stock, goes better. Thanks, Gav
  7. How worn are your discs? New discs helped to improve mine. The brakes are generally not good though
  8. I have the same issue occasionally. As a band-aid solution, I gave the throttle return springs some extra pre-load with a rubber spacer.
  9. Tony Foale's website has some great articles on frame bracing. Some of the solutions he comes up with are aesthetically challenging though
  10. Sweet as, look me up on facebook. Gavin Brindle
  11. My VM29s are bored out to 33 on a mild slabby engine, and it goes well. Need to mess about with jetting for a while, but it's all doable. I'm also from an EFI background. Setting up the carbs will do wonders for your understanding of how fuel mapping works
  12. Scania chassis grey is almost perfect
  13. I've uploaded most of my build photos here There's one which shows most of the bracing, but even with it stripped bare you need to know what to look for
  14. Where are you in NZ? I've just finished getting my 85 legal. If you're in Whangarei any time, let me know, I may be able to assist you with some things
  15. I haven't double skinned mine either. From the outside you need to look hard to see the bracing, mainly just closing up the cast sections, but also some triangulation through where the airbox would normally go. I can't remember the exact compression numbers. I think roughly 1.1mm of squish. 2005 R1 shock fits with a bit of grinding, don't know how it works with the 1100 linkage ratio though, I have stock linkage, and a heavier spring on it's way here
  16. My 85 750 engine has a bit more compression, cams dialled in to kit timing, ports tidied up, carbs bored out to 32mm, and pod filters. It goes ok, suspension and frame bracing are the big things on a slabby.
  17. Have a .95 spring coming for the rear. Eibach coilover springs are the right size, and cheaper than aftermarket bike springs. Having looked at the front guard mount a little better, I think I'll get one made from 10mm aluminium before finding the fork legs
  18. Looks like I might have to keep an eye out for the 1100 ones then, thanks. Will get cartridge emulators at the same time, so will only leave damper adjusters on for looks. It's great fun destroying people on modern bikes with an old slabby that looks stock.
  19. Hi guys, I've got a mildly modified 85 GSXR 750, and see that Suzuki used a bigger axle for the H model. So far my bike has extra frame bracing, an R1 shock, 0.95 fork springs. The next thing I'm looking at to improve rigidity is using the 17mm front axle from an H in place of the 15mm axle the F and G came with. There's a few parts needed for the conversion, but before I start acquiring them, I'd like to know if anyone else has done it, and was it worth it? Cheers,
