Crass Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM (edited) So as I said in my carb rebuild thread I would measure a brand new set of OEM plastic washers, I thought a better place to post the info was in this related sticky thread. The diameter of the washer is 8.7mm, it is 2.5mm thick and the centre hole (not as easy to measure) is ~3mm in diameter. For the avoidance of any confusion note - brand new OEM plastic washers DO NOT have a step in them. Any step in a used OEM washer is as a result of wear, it should not be there. Crass Posted yesterday at 12:56 PM Posted yesterday at 12:56 PM What no-one seems to be considering is why the slide is designed with a step in it. It would be perfectly obvious to Mikuni that such a step would lead to the needle sitting at an angle, and making the step is a deliberate complication of the moulding. Notwithstanding the fact that this arrangement leads to accelerated needle and emulsion tube wear Mikuni must have wanted the needle to sit like this or else they wouldn't have designed in a step in the slide. There must be some benefit and my concern is that a modification which prevents the needle from sitting at the designed angle must have some disadvantages, whether we can understand the engineer's thinking or not. jonny1bump Posted 11 hours ago Author Posted 11 hours ago Bandit they totally changed design so they don't sit at angle, funny that. I understand there thoughts on this and think understand why they did it but reality all it does us screw everything up with wear so crack on keep changing ya plastics yearly. I got 161 hp out mine with cvs before went FCR route. Quote
