Wurz Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 Just got myself an 83 kat....I will be asking a lot of stupid questions. But first, someone point me in the direction of what swingers are a good swap 1 Quote
scotgary Posted September 8, 2018 Posted September 8, 2018 1200 Bandit is a popular and easy swap. you can buy the conversion parts here: www.suzuki-katana.com I am currently having my machinist do the modifications to mount a TL000R braced swingarm. I am currently doing a 1982 Katana 1100 restmod. Good luck 1 Quote
no class Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 bandit 12 / zrx 1100 / zrx 1200 / thunderace 1000 / srad 600 / tl 1000 / so many others but depends on the suspension set-up you want.......twin shock or mono ? I would say the front end will be taking a hike as well ? Quote
johnr Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 stock kat swingarm will take upto a 180 tyre with no serious mods, so if youre after fitting a wider rear you dont necessarily need to swap the arm. lucky7 sell the mounts to weld onto a stock bandit arm to change it to twin shock, and you can get a discount on them by ordering them through this site. What mods john? Spacers, cush drive torque arm I take it Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Using the standard swing arm it is all about spacers, and machining the sprocket carrier face to get chain run clearance. You'll also have to step the front sprocket out. Torque arm needs a bend too. Bandit swing arm and rear wheel combo with the Lucky 7 weld on shock mounts ( see the traders section) is a tried and tested mod. What to you want to do with the front? RWU or USD? Quote
Wurz Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 But then again, RWU could be an option Quote
johnr Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 plenty of suzuki stuff that will fit right on the stock frame without any mods. and im assuming that its you wurz?...... Quote
