Wolfers Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 (edited) How do, first time on like a dick I put trumpets on my gsx 750es without jetting it properly. I put 135 main jets in but didn’t lift the needles, chaos ensued and now I’ve got a shit engine with no compression (100% my fault) i thought bollox to it and invested in a 02 gsxf 750 motor and banged it in the es frame slight jiggerypokery and got it sat right and got everything lined up. however there was no way the air box was going in, there’s a million and one keyboard commandoes that insist cv carbs won’t work with pod filters but I didn’t have much choice. Instead of the cheap Chinese wank filters I went for the 58mm ramair foam type they were about 18 quid each. i lifted the needles by 2 notches and swapped the 135 mainjets from the es carbs (which were bigger due to the trumpets I put on 112 standard I think) well fuck me! The fucker goes like shit off a shovel, pulls hard as fuck right through the Rev range. so if you’re considering running pods on a gsxf 750 I can 100% recommend 135 main jets and lift the needles by 2 notches, with the ramair filters as a base point , I might lower the needle by a notch see what difference it makes, in the es frame you can do the needles in situ without removing the carbs. Wolfers Posted August 27, 2018 Author Posted August 27, 2018 Cheers mate just thought I’d share some info as there was not much positives regarding pod filters on cv carbs Quote
wraith Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Welcome to OSS Sounds like you've got a good one there, any pics? We like pics on here If you have a good look around OSS pages and the project pages you will find a lot on the gsx es Quote
Gixer1460 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Maybe people that don't like Pod filters - K&N's are my preference - have probably never had carbs set up with them - easier to blame a simple filter rather than their own ineptitude or tightfistedness LOL! CV's certainly don't like individual filters - they seem to like a 'reservoir' of air greater than an individual cylinder capacity. Quote
