Martinfagan Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 i have k6 bandit. engine is passed redemption 96k. will mk1 or mk2 engines fit into the frame without much fettling? i can get mk1 or mk 2 engine for aroung £300 but one from k6 is over £800. Bike still runs strong but have noticed oil leak from lower engine where it meets cylinder head so think it may be quicker and cheaper to replace engine. Bike was previously used for daily commute from Northwest to Bournemouth hence the mileage Quote
Rene EFE Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 If it's running fine, I wouldn't touch it. How would you know the used replacement engine you'd buy is good and leakfree? Quote

Easy to check, cheap to fix. And yes Mk1 and Mk2 engines are a straight fit in the K6 frame. Quote
Jaydee Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 If you are using a mark 1 engine in a mark 2, you'll have to drill and tap the output shaft for the speedo sensor. Easy enough to drill. @fatblokeonbandithas done it a few times. Quote
