slabside petrol cap

Has anybody managed to take the filler cap apart to hopefully change/adjust the lock pins.

my ignition and fuel cap have different keys, would like to have just 1 key to fit both.

Easier to take the ignition to a locksmith & get him to change it to the filler key

Iam to tight for that,

Take it to bits inside a freezer bag!

Not so bad, hardest part was getting the top circlip out from under the cover without damaging it, used a small screwdriver and scribe and it popped out , and the little locating pins were tricky, very lucky that only one pin needed filling down for my key to work.

Pushing the spring back and fitting the second bigger circlip was a bit tricky.

Don't lubricate it with oil, or WD40. That'll clog the works up in no time. Use powdered Graphite.

Then what does he do ??

It would be taken apart & the pins would then be matched to the petrol cap key. Make another key, that would then give you 2 keys that work the ignition & cap.

Or do the same with the petrol cap & ignition key to get them matched.
