bigyellowthing Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Hi All I'm begging for help again... Top end rebuild following a failure to proceed on the M5. Seems to have all the ingredients but no start. Suggestions please... Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 It needs 3 things to start. Spark, Fuel and Compression. Spark: is it getting one? Is it sparking in the right order 1and 4 for the left coil 2 and 3 for the right coil. Fuel: is it reaching the plugs ( are the plugs wet with fuel) Compression: is there enough? After a top end rebuild this is an area to pay extra attention to. Is the valve timing correct? If it is out by a tooth or two then the valves won't be closing at top centre and you wont be getting compression. They are not complicated beasties. Just be methodical. 1 Quote
KATANAMANGLER Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 Once you know which one of these is missing report back for the next part of the "won't start" flow chart 2 Quote

bigyellowthing Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 Hi Katanamangler The issue seems to have been petrol and plugs. New fuel and plugs (+ carb cleaner) resulted in familiar GSX easy starting. best Glen 5 Quote
