GixxerboiT Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Hey all, on my 86 gsxr 750 g . I've recently gotten a newer tail section weld on & I've been rehooking up the wires one day it has spark the next It want. I only unhooked from the battery back. I have friend who has 88 750 my coils work fine on his bike. I've had my battery tested & it's good, I installed a new starter relay I've installed new fuses, reset button isn't tripped. I've unhooked & rebooked everything so many times I'm not sure if I got wired right or not & now the only way it the motor spins over is if I jump the relay any help would be appreciated Quote
Oilyspanner Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Could be many things Bud, sounds like a wiring fault - could be a bad earth strap, corroded terminals, damaged loom. It needs a session with a multi-meter to see where the problem is - or if electrics aren't your favourite thing, you'll have to get an auto/motorcycle electrical specialist to check it over - if you have a friendly electrician, they should be able to spot the problem with the help of a wiring diagram etc. It maybe components, but it sounds like a wiring fault. Good luck ! Quote
martyngsxr Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I had problems with mine the other week it was tilurning over but not sparking it turned out my pickup had gone bad Quote
GixxerboiT Posted October 5, 2017 Author Posted October 5, 2017 I've tryed the old relay first, then the new one it & no change, I've been trying to look up wire diagrams & volt charts, but all I've been getting are one's for new bikes Quote
suzook12 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 (edited) You need 12V+ along the orange/white, this feeds the coils and the CDI and runs from the kill switch. The kill switch is fed by the orange/black as is the starter button. From the fuse box, you are looking at the orange/yellow which feeds the sidestand relay then turns to orange/black at the relay. If the side stand relay is faulty, connect the orange/black and orange yellow together. The ignition fuse is fed by the orange from ignition switch.... You should be seeing near as dammit battery voltage all along those wires. If you search Carl Salter manuals, you will find a slabby 11 service manual in pdf format. The wiring is much the same. For models that don't have the sidestand relay, the ignition feed is the orange/black from the fuse box.... Edited October 5, 2017 by suzook12 Quote
