gixeriain Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Right, this is doing my tits in. How the feck do you fit the lower leg bushes whilst stanchion is still fitted ? Quote
bandit750 Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Not sure but just reverse the process that got you to this point, if they came out they'll go back in the same way. Quote

O/s diam on stanchion bush is bigger than inner diam on bush on fork lower. When you separate the fork, stanchion bush pulls other bush out. To rebuild, stanchion with new bush goes in first. Then, youve gotta put other bush in. Its impossible. Quote
fatblokeonbandit Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 No its not you need a seal insertion tool ( i made a plastic one out of plastic pipe and a jubilee clip, ) and push the bush in first then the spacer then the seal, done it loads of times, it will be a tight ft as the bushes are new 2 Quote
markfoggy Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 (edited) That top bush will be a Bastard though. You can knock it home using the top washer. Get some 6" lead roofing sheet from a builders merchant, just enough the wrap around the stanchion a couple of times. Makes a lovely slide hammer and the job is a piece of piss. gixeriain Posted August 22, 2017 Author Posted August 22, 2017 Well, new bushes fitted to one fork. Now, the fork wont bloody compress. WTF Quote
Swiss Toni Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Won't compress at all, or just very tight? Quote

Swiss Toni Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Only thing I can think of, apart from the new bushes being so tight they've locked up (were they hard to get into the slider?), is either too much oil (hydraulic lock), or something locking the damper rod in the fully extended position. Maybe bent it on installation? Quote
