SoUrPuSs Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I'm having issues with the carbs bike starts on starter fluid and will run for a couple min on prime but won't run with the petcock turned to on position when I got the bike the bike had no lines to the carb could anyone tell me where the vacuum line from the tanks petcock goes? And does then second line on the tank plug in anywhere or is that just a breather? Quote
wraith Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 If you don't have the vacuum pipe on that's why it will not run, smaller pipe from tape runs usual to number 2 carbs, but someone will be along with a pic to show you better than I can say in words Quote
SoUrPuSs Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Honestly have no clue which one is number two carb Quote
busa1300 Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 (edited) One is the fuel line, one is the vacuum that both go to fuel tap. other line from tank coming off fuel sender connects to nothing. Edited February 20, 2017 by busa1300 Quote
SoUrPuSs Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 Thanks man I definitely had the vacuumed plugged into the wrong one Quote

But number 2 is probably nearest the tap. Any of the 4 carbs can be used. The other 3 vacuum take offs are missing their rubber bungs and causing air leaks on the other 3 cylinders (assuming you didn't take the bungs off before you took the pic). Bungs only come off so you can attach carb balancers to them when synchronising the carbs. The vacuum pulls on a rubber diaphragmram inside the tap to open it internally so the fuel can free fall (like on prime) Shut the motor off and the diaphragm shuts and stops the fuel flow. Quote

No...only one vacuum take off on 26 mikunis the other two are bowl vents....#1 carb has no outlet. The cylinder head is tapped for vacuum hookup in order to do synchronization. 1 Quote

Learn something new everyday. Never noticed no.1 had no outlet. Assumed they were all vacuum outlets on the carbs. 1 Quote
SoUrPuSs Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 How long should fuel and vacuum lines be and does it matter? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) Short as possible, without any strain or sharp bends. Spare pipe from tank may be tank filler recess drain. Edited March 1, 2017 by Swiss Toni Quote
SoUrPuSs Posted March 4, 2017 Author Posted March 4, 2017 Ok do they both need to be the same size? Quote
