First up thanks for the help so far. I did  search for info but JEEZ theres a lot to look through.

Hoping for some simple info

1)  When did the gsxr frame take either engine? Meaning was there a year frame that had the same frame and fitted with either engine from the factory?

2) On slabbies what is the best frame85 0r 86?) for a 1052 swap.

3) What is needed to be done on the Slabby 750 frames to accommodate the 1100's HP, Bracing?? I understand its bolt in but is the frame up to the 1100 engines torque and HP

3) I dont know if the 86 750/1100 frame is the same or the 1100 frame is stronger.

I ask the above as I have the 85 slabby frame but may have a 86 aswell.  Plus some 1052 frames.

Intention is to build a 1100 GSXR for street riding but the 750s as a track bike. Got a few 750 bikes and engines. Means Ill have more spares available!!!!!!!!

Finally im quite able to race brace the 750 frame if someone can help with the info  and diagram  or experience for this too.

Any and all help appreciated

all model year 750 and 1100 frames were different, though the final M models were very similar.

85 and 86 750 frames are the same, except very minor details, and more down to original market than year. 85 swing arm is shorter than the 86

85-87 1100 frames are very different.

1052 engines bolt straight into 750 frame.  1127 and 1152 engies have a larger lower rear bolt, so you need to sleeve these or drill the 750 frame to suit.

Personally I think bracing the 750 slabbie frames is a waste of time.  I've run 160bhp and slicks through my 85 slabbie on track and it handles just fine as long as you assemble everything carefully.

I guess you mean the same, but some clarifications for the OP:

- 1985-87 750 frames were the same (except for a small reinforcement to the passenger frame, implemented during 1986)

- 1986-88 1100 frames were the same, but very different from the 750s

- All oilcooled engines had the same geometry when it comes to fastening points. 600-1200 engines can be fitted to all frames (although the lower rear screw is M12 on 1127 and 1157).

- As you said, the 1985 750 had a shorter swingarm. It was extended by 33 mm in 1986.

Thanks Very much fellas.

I just remember back in the 80s the 7/11 seemed nearly normal but I never heard any negatives on handling, which is my only concern. 160hp and no issue tells me what I needed to know.

I have ended up with 6 plus 750 engine including a short stroke or 2 plus 3 complete 1052s ,

I have 2 kats aswell , the 750 Kat gets and engine plus Ill build a track bike.

I have a 750 SRAD for the track but just want to put an old skool say what now!? on the track and enjoy yesterday!!

Great site with great people that offer great advice and help. Thank you all for your help.

I do have an original 750 L model and will be looking at a 1127 swap as well.

I see the alloy billet engine BKTs as a benefit on both the old Kat frame/engine mount ,on this site which seems to be a great upgrade with power too.

It probably is and thank you but Ive already got superfast bikes, this is about a daily rider and part time tracky. Nothing insane.
