Gsxr11 rear cam chain guide

Hi guys.

I've been trying to identify a rattle on my bike ( gsxr11 slabside).

At first me and every one else thought it was tappets. So I've checked them and there ok. I've also checked the idler wheel. That's ok too.

I've just had a look at the rear cam chain guide and I think that's ok.

It's a bit tricky as I'm having to do this outside in the road. I'm going to pop some photos on.

Just one question though for myself and any one else who is wondering where they can get a rear cam chain guide as it seems you can't get a new one any more.

Can the gsx1100 f cam chain guides or any other guides be used in the gsxr1052 engine. ( A person on a selling site told me I can use the gsx11f)

Cheers

They're no longer available, not sure about using a powerscreen one. Have you checked your cam chain tensioner? Those springs wear out, and I think people found one from another bike that'll work, or you can go with a manual cam chain tensioner. Your guide doesn't look bad to me, I'd start with resetting the tensioner and going from there.

Cheers upshotknothole.

I have tried looking for a spring. I did try a few washers to compensate for loss of  spring  length.  The cam chain has around a 1000 miles on it

Spring in my b12 motor. Part has been superseded by a slightly longer spring. I imagine it's the same for slabby and slingshot but not 100%

Other option is a manual one.

The new cam chain tensioner spring for the B12 from Suzuki works fine in powerscreen and 1100 slabby engines, and thus probably all the 1127 engines.
