Builtwithpurehate Posted yesterday at 02:43 PM Posted yesterday at 02:43 PM (edited) I'm collecting parts to rebuild a 78 gs1000 engine and wanted to know what the collective here would do "while I'm in here...." I have 2 and a half stock motors to build 1 from. I have oversized pistons and full gasket sets, I will port and clean up the heads and planning on using the factory valves. I've seen a few things about 750/850 cam swaps - would like your suggestions. Anything you all can recommend that should be done while in here? Edited yesterday at 02:44 PM by Builtwithpurehate Quote
BigT Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Two things I can think of: Somewhere late in 78, Suzuki added a bolt at the front of the head to mitigate leaks. If you have that combo, start there. (my 89k mile motor, with a 1085 kit, doesn't have one) According to a race engine builder, setting the cam timing accurately is the best cheap horsepower Quote
Swiss Toni Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Have a look at the camchain, guide & tensioner. 1 Quote
