B12 Alternator connections

Maybe a dumb question but just need to check. Engine is B12 K4 and I have a Mk 2 loom to go on. Just checking the connections with the Haynes manual and I have a slight difference.

Manual shows 3 wire connection    :  Black/ orange :  a black wire that connects to a red in the loom and the earth wire.

My loom only has the Black/ orange wire and the earth.

Will it function correctly with just the two wires ?   The loom connector is a T shaped double plug but with only the one wire .

I think they changed them between Mk1 and Mk2. Do you have a Mk2 alternator? All the old GSXRs were only two wires, but I think the MK2 alternator has the two wires in the T shaped connector and a separate lead on the back of the alternator for the charging wire. Not at home right now or I'd go look at my Mk2 bandit engine and harness to double check.

I am presuming the alternator that came with the engine is MK2 as it has a 2 pin connection. The harness came separately and is  MK2 but has a single wire block connector. I checked it against a MK1 loom and that has a single wire block connector. so it seems I need either a single wire alternator or a double wire harness ?

I think Ive sussed it out. I assumed the two wires were supposed to be in the black T block connector. Thats not the case. The black /orange wire is the 12v input and the thick black cable is the regulated output . I cut the loom open to check on the black cable and it does connect to red wires going to the Ign switch and starter relay and then to battery. So all should be OK.
