Reinhoud Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) Anyone here who has his exhaust manifold ceramic coated? I had mine coated last year, haven't done that many kms, but it looks like it starting to rust.. Now I like to know, is this normal? Or did the guy do a bad job? Thanks Edited November 4 by Reinhoud Quote
Arttu Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I have had mine coated a couple times, with Techline and Cerakote coatings. As conclusion I would say they tolerate high temperatures very well but water and dirt cause problems. So the coating stays pretty well on the spots which stay clean but the parts that get dirt blasting from the front wheel start rusting pretty quickly. I think Techline was holding better than Cerakote but can't say for sure... Quote
Reinhoud Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Aha, it's indeed on the spots where dirt builds up. Damn, that was a waste of $380, $15 spraycans hold up better! Thanks. 1 Quote
Arttu Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Well, in my case it definitely has hold up better than an average spraycan stuff... 1 Quote
Joseph Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Not worth it. I had to have it done twice on a steel manifold i wanted to make clean, first time it just rusted after a couple of months, they re did it free of charge, and then that bike got sold so i don't know whether they got it right the second time, but frankly, on steel it seems just as durable as any other treatment, in other words, no hope for long term solution that holds up. Stainless or Ti is the only way to go for exhaust systems 1 Quote
