imago Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Just been looking through the boxes and I have a pair of cams but I can't remember which engine they came out of. Compared to the standard ET/EX cams they have about 0.5mm more lift and a much more aggressive profile. The only markings I can see are 455 cast into the inlet cam and a 'D' stamped on the end of the inlet. My question is, are they EF cams or reground stock cams? Centre pair in the pic. Quote
krazy kat Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Can not answer that, EF cams do not have a tach drive all yours do. 1 Quote

Duckndive Posted October 19 Posted October 19 There are two versions of EF cams....Neither have a rev counter drive but they do have the uncut lobe the low power 100bhp and full fat "one type" are marked with a stamped "D" on the timing mark end that may also apply to earlier models that have a tacho drive if so they would have a marginally higher lift and duration Reground / aftermarket bump sticks usually have ID marks near the sprocket area or on the end "even phil joy" who will grind whatever one off you want marks his Quote

The stock cam full fat lobes on the outer pairs are 34.6 (min to the book is 34.35 for the ET) so as you'd expect. The odd cams are 35.2mm which is over standard. The profile is an odd one as the duration looks longer but the close profile is a much sharper angle so it'll be more of a snap. There's no ID marks anywhere I can see, but the casting marks and finish are quite different in places. Quote

I suppose they might be Kat 1000 or some oddball creation from the fevered mind of someone trying to squeeze a bit more from an ET at some point over the last 40 years. They definitely came from a 16v 1100, I just can't remember which engine they came out of. Although thinking about it one of the engines had a well used 2nd gear, so that seems a likely candidate. You're not going to fanny about with cams and then ride gently. Quote
