Chay Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Planing on rewiring my gsx as it's the only thing that wasn't really looked at during the build Want ditch the Dyna s and maybe go to ignitec. Wondering if the Moto gadget m units is worth fitting Quote
imago Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Yes if you use all the features it has, and some of the add ons that sync with it. If not then it's an unnecessary expense and you'd be better off using something in between an M-Unit and a blade fuse box. These for example. Quote

Unless you use the app for BlueTooth control, the keyless security features, pulsed brake lights, hazard lights, M-Button for Can-Bus lighting operation etc etc then you're fitting a four cylinder engine and only using one cylinder. I really rate the M-Unit, however many of the features it has are novelties rather than usable benefits. The sort of thing you play with for a couple of days then never use them again. Quote
wraith Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I've never used one, as for what I have always wanted they are very expensive. If you're into your gagets they are great, if you're using experience all singing all dancing new style clocks that you can set up your bike with a laptop they are great but like @imagosays they are a lot of money to not use all the bits. My last two rewiring jobs on my bikes, I've just used the aftermarket blade fuse box's that you can get from Vehicle Wiring Products. Quote

To put it into perspective, for the same money as an M-Unit you can get all the materials that you need to build a complete new loom. It's horses for courses though like so many things. You see people fitting the thick end of £2k worth of wheels, forks and shock from another bike with the spring and damping rates a mile off so they never get the best from them. (Although they'll swear they're perfect because they're so much better than the 30 - 40 year old knackered stuff they took off. ) 2 Quote
