Rene EFE Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I've got a crank, I've got a welder; weld the fucker up. Surely it can't be that simple? Quote
johnr Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 depends on what welder you have. if its not a tig, i wouldnt even consider it....... very specialised field i think, Quote
johnr Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 i suppose if you can be sure that its true, off you go..... Quote
Pegleg Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 But is the welder a bird shit dispenser, or can you weld? 4 Quote
Duckndive Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You need the crank apart to do it properly..... 1 Quote
Rene EFE Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 As in; piece for piece and lining it all up individually? No chance I'd be doing this myself anytime soon, it's just the theory that intrigues me. Quote
Sheep Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Being a welder myself i would have thought some form of prep work would be involved before welding it to ensure good penetration (snigger) but i am no expert in crank mods!!I once welded a two stroke single crank which was pretty straight forward as it had been balanced before welding and the crank pin prepped too. My old tutor once told me an 'Expert' was this......EX-SPERT....'Ex'= as in 'has been' and Spert (spurt) is a 'drip under pressure' lol. 2 Quote
teltwosheds Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 It's a special job for special people seriously if you got the workshop, tools and understand how to utilise it all you can do anything Quote

All depts. on how far you want to go with the welding..."factory is just about 25-30 mm on journal to the web" ......and they don't bother with the gear..... A full tilt FB or PS crank is normaly pinned and fully welded....... Quote
