BlatantNoobery Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 Hey all, Been posting a lot lately, but it's tough to find info on these bikes! I am finally taking apart the motor on my gs850gl and I'm removing the head. It seems that one of the header bolts is coming out with the header nut as I loosen it. Is this ok and fixable.as along as I thread it back in to the case after the head is off? Or should I work to unseize the nut from the bolt? Random pic I have from the motor (cams are already out of course) Thanks a million! Quote
imago Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 It's fine as long as the threads in the case are OK. You won't know if they are until you get it apart, but you'd need it stripped to do anything about it. So long story short, not a problem. 1 Quote

Swiss Toni Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 Then, put the stud in the vice, and take the nut off. Check case threads, clean stud threads. Lock two nuts together and replace stud. 2 Quote
Suzukian Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 You might want to wrap something around the stud to not mar/scratch it's surface. Quote
