del649 Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 (edited) Hi I have been assembling my engine after a head gasket change and couldn't get the airbox rubbers to seat properly, they have gone hard so assume this is the issue. Are there rubbers from other models that, fit or is it just specific to this model. It is standard carbs and airbox.. Thanks in advance Edited May 14, 2023 by del649 Mistake Quote
BillyR Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Will they not soften if you leave them in warm/hot water for a while? Quote
Swiss Toni Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 iirc, there was a thread all about 'boot softening potions' in here a while ago. do a search for it. Quote
del649 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 They did soften when in hot water but went hard very quickly, I have an set on order now thanks Quote
simesman Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Had exactly that problem on my GS1000. Could not get the airbox rubbers on the carbs. No way they were going, so used a hot air gun and pushed the airbox from the inside with a stick of wood, towards the carbs. Worked a treat. They have never fitted so well! Quote
