I'm not sure why they are so wide compared to 'tappet' types ie. have a, twice as wide allowance, compared and as a result are noisy as 'marbles in a tin can' Drove me mad so I used the 'tappet' bottom end settings!

Possibly so people didn't have to change shims as often ? Maybe not :D, but if they expected the engine to be ragged mercilessly then maybe they expected some valve seat recession from the hammering closing the clearance, meh,  who knows ?
