ozgsx1100 Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 (edited) Okay wire wheel gurus, can I go to a 2.5 x 18 front rim without anything fouling? Spokes hitting calipers etc. tia Edited April 7, 2023 by ozgsx1100 Quote
TonyGee Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I suppose it depends on what hub you are using ? if its a wide one then the spokes will be further apart. the size (width) of the rim won't make any difference but a wider tyre might !!!!! are you using kat forks ? 1 Quote

Yes standard Kat forks Quote
Tony Nitrous Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 It’ll check my rim sizes tomorrow if I remember. I’m running wider 18” rims with standard forks and swingarm. Can’t remember rim or tyre sizes, but it’s running the same size tyres as an early GSXR I think. 4 Quote
TonyGee Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 that bike looks well with wire wheels Tony, if I had the cash I would build a pair for mine, 1 Quote

Mine has a 110/80 front tyre on a 2.50 x 18 rim. A 160/60 rear tyre on a 4.25 x 18 rim. Mine’s a bit close to the sides of the front guard and to the chain. Lots of variables. Changing the guards, chain size and run etc etc make a difference. Take tyre sizes with a huge pinch of salt too, there’s quite a difference between brands and models of tyres that wear identical numbers. Where in AU are you? I was Brisbane but I’ve moved West / rural now. Edited April 9, 2023 by Tony Nitrous Quote
johnr Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 im not sure how the rim width would affect anything regarding calipers and disks. if the hub is stock gs then the spokes are in the right place, and the spokes entering the rim are along the centre line of the rim so it doesnt matter how wide the rim is regarding the calipers or disks, 2 Quote
