John748 Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 I've just acquired a gsx550e from my dad and wondering what to do with it? Can bandit running gear fit fairly easily , don't mine the work but I don't really want much cash in it 1 Quote
Dezza Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 If it's in decent knick, the cheapest way forward is to get it running and riding as best you can with what you've got. The cost and effort involved in fitting Blandit running gear is unlikely to be offset by any massive benefits. If you change the consumables (can you still get tyres the right size?) and recommision it, you can then go from there. I think the main problems with these 550s apart from the usual corrosion is getting the unusual carbs working well. Quote

If you use a b6, the rf600 bottom yoke they have the same spacing and fork diameter but the stem fits the GS/gsx bikes. The rf600 front wheel is a 3.5" so you can get a 120 front tyre instead of the 110 on the b6 and the both use the same discs and brakes and unlike the b6 mk2 that has the same size wheel but doesn't have a Speedo drive but the rf600 one dose. John748 Posted July 10, 2021 Author Posted July 10, 2021 Thanks for the info, using 1200 forks with a stem swap, worried the 6 will be to soft Quote
John748 Posted July 11, 2021 Author Posted July 11, 2021 Couple of tophat spacers and it's in, Gsxr shock to go in , have to figure out the top mount yet. Gs500 cush drive should line the chain up? 2 Quote
