berty Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Hi all,Has anyone successfully made and installed a clutch basket rubber peg before? ( GSX1100ET ) ??As these do not seem to sold separately anywhere , or do they ?cheers Quote
BigPhil Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I cut one from an o-ring. Admittedly my clutch slips a tiny bit at max loads, but that's probably not down to the rubber peg :-)/P 1 Quote
berty Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) I don't suppose you recall how much of an upstand you left on the peg ?? Edited November 17, 2015 by berty Quote
Duckndive Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I don't suppose you recall how much of an upstand you left on the peg ??Maybe 2 mm...but its only there to dampen the rattle.... 2 Quote
BigPhil Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Maybe 2 mm...but its only there to dampen the rattle....Maybe a bit more on mine, but as Mr Duckndive said, just there to keep the noise down- 1 Quote
berty Posted November 18, 2015 Author Posted November 18, 2015 2mm sounds about right - just seen pic in the manual. finishes just shy of upper surface. O ring idea works a treat.cheers Quote
Swiss Toni Posted November 18, 2015 Posted November 18, 2015 Done that for years! Never had any bother with the clutch at all! You're better off if you can find a piece of 'o ring' stock, because if you cut a piece out of an existing ring, it always seems to have a very slight bend in it! 1 Quote
berty Posted November 19, 2015 Author Posted November 19, 2015 All sound advice !! I found a 75mm dia ring in my box of "that will come in handy one day " . So the curve is pretty much not existant on a 7/8mm peg . Shoukd makes things a little quieter !!!!! Quote
